On the Monday (October 26th) edition of Afternoons with Amos, there was another “Unofficial Poll of the Airwaves”.

Afternoons with Amos listeners who participated in Monday’s “unofficial poll” overwhelmingly plan to vote in the Tuesday, November 3rd referendum and plan to vote “Yes” on the Wishard referendum. On those responding 100% said they planned to vote in the referendum and 91% said they planned to vote to allow Wishard to build a new $750 million hospital.

Those supporting the Wishard Referendum say it’s important that a quality hospital be there for those who would be denied admission to other hospitals because of income and/or lack of insurance.

Those against the referendum had concerns about Wishard doctors and the quality of Wishard care in the past.

AWA also asked listeners how they felt about ideas to reform the Circle City Classic Football game. An Editorial in the Indianapolis Recorder newspaper and an article in the Indianapolis Business Journal expressed a view of some Classic officials that perhaps the game should involve an historically Black team from an historical Black college paired with a predominantly team from a predominately white school from Indiana.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of AWA listeners preferred that the Classic remain a contest between two historically Black colleges.  Though 32% favored changing the concept to include a predominately Black school meeting a predominately white one.

Views were very strong among those who favored keeping the Classic as an event between two Black football tams and bands. While younger listeners tended to favor a more diverse team line-up.
