In an historic broadcast, WTLC-AM’s Afternoons with Amos program broadcast live from the newsroom of The Indianapolis Recorder to discuss, with Indianapolis Black community leaders, the ongoing crisis stemming from the beating of 15-year-old Brandon Johnson on May 16th.

Indianapolis Recorder President/General Manager Shannon Williams, Recorder reporters Brandon Perry, James Patterson and Jessica Williams-Gibson along with Indiana Minority Business Magazine’s Rickie Clark (also a former police officer) joined WTLC-AM’s Hall of Fame broadcaster Amos Brown in questioning guests and listening to listener and community callers.

Guests during the two hour broadcast were Baptist Ministers Alliance President Dr. Stephen Clay, pastors Rev. Jeffrey Johnson, Rev. Michael Jones, Rev. Mmoja Ajabu and Elder Lionel Rush. Democratic Mayoral candidate Ron Gibson and community activists Rev. Solomon and Brother Kareem.

The broadcast was the first time WTLC had broadcast live from the newsroom of the 115 year old Indianapolis Recorder. It also marks the first known instance of any Black radio station in the nation broadcasting live from the offices of a Black newspaper.
