Ribbs, the first African-American to qualify and race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is behind an effort by another African-American to race at Indy. Speaking on Afternoons with Amos, Ribbs revealed he owns a car to be driven by Chase Austin, 21, an African-American who will compete in the Freedom 100 race on Carb Day at the Speedway. Ribbs is the owner of Austin’s car, which is sponsored by Honda. Chase Austin would be the first Black to race on Carb Day and just the second Black to qualify and race at the famed Speedway.  Hear Willy T. Ribbs’ interview with Amos above.
