Justine Simmons, starred in MTV’s hit reality TV show “Run’s House,” is the quintessential mother and entrepreneur. She successfully manages and balances her roles as an accomplished author, jewelry designer, philanthropist, but places her most important roles as a loving mother and wife on the top of the list.
Justine’s children’s book, “God, Can Your Hear Me?” was released in 2007 and has graced thousands of readers with its sweet and powerful message. She and her husband, Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons of the pioneering musical trio known as Run DMC, co-authored the New York Times best seller, “Take Back Your Family” in 2008, in which they shared their inspiring thoughts on creating a close-knit, productive, and successful household. This emphasis on family values is echoed in the Simmons’ incredibly popular “Run’s House” series. She proudly accepted the NAACP Award for “Outstanding Reality Series” for the show in 2008.
Justine is an exclusive designer for HSN. She will be unveiling her new high-end costume jewelry line in July 2010 on HSN. Justine had amazing success with her first collection, Brown Sugar, and has developed a loyal following of supporters who eagerly await the release of her new collections on HSN. The inspiration behind Justine’s jewelry line comes from her appreciation of 1930s-and-1940s style and Onassis and her mother-in-law Evelyn Simmons, who had an extensive collection of unique brooches and rings. The collection is very classic, yet modern in design and was created to accommodate the lifestyle for the woman on the go and appeal to women of all ages who appreciate fashionable jewelry. Justine is happy to be a part of HSN and doing one of the things she loves – designing fabulous jewelry!
Her work with various charitable endeavors, such as Safe Horizon – an organization devoted to the victims of abuse and domestic violence – further showcases the enormous capacity for caring and kindness that she is so renown for. As an avid supporter of the arts, Justine works closely with Art for Life, a yearly event held by Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation that raises funds to provide disadvantaged urban youth with arts exposure, access and education as well as providing exhibition opportunities to early and mid-career artists and artists of color. She and Joseph recently partnered with Kaboom! and Kool Aid to organize safe playgrounds in areas of need, whose initiative is to promote the importance of children getting exercise outdoors and to encourage physical activity.
Justine is a devoted mother to her six beautiful children, Vanessa, Angela, Joseph Jr aka JoJo, Daniel III aka Diggy, Russell II aka Russy and they adopted a beautiful baby girl named Miley Justine Simmons, who has brought even more life and love into the Simmons’ household. She and her husband Joseph have created a lovely home in New Jersey, where she resides with her family and adorable Maltese, Pal.
