The Brown Boyz Are Back with First new CD in Three Years, “EVOLUTION”

The 11 Track Project is in Stores Now

While “Better Dayz” Continues to Race Up the Chart

The contemporary gospel quartet known as The Brown Boyz is back on the scene with their first new CD in three years, “Evolution” (*Blacksmoke Music).  The third album of their two-decade career is in stores now and the inspiring new single, “Better Dayz,” is currently #33 on the national gospel radio airplay charts and climbing. It’s an urban-flavored tune, featuring the Virginia-based girl group, 4 Love, that’s resonating with radio programmers and fans alike.

The biological brothers of Curtis Brown, Dennis Brown, Willie Brown and their cousin, Joe Williams, hail from Freeport, New York. As pre-teens, they were formed as The Brown Boys Gospel Singers in 1982 and managed by their parents, Deaconess Anna Brown and the late Willie Brown Sr. Since 1999, they have been groomed by Blacksmoke Music CEO Kerry Douglas and gone by the name of The Brown Boyz while producing radio hits such as “Somebody Prayed For Me” and the retro-soul styled “It’s Alright’ and “I Wanna Love Like That.”

The new eleven track CD features down home church songs such as the ballad “Jesus,” the toe-tapper “God Did It” and the hand-clapper, “I Got A Praise.” They deliver the funk on the fast-paced “Help is on the Way” and old school soul crooning on “God’s Way.” The rollicking “I Made It” boasts a James Brown-styled dance vibe while “Purpose” is a rousing anthem. The track “Today” shows off the group’s tight, four-part harmony and the album closes with the traditional, up-tempo quartet groove, “Work on Me.”

Over the years, The Brown Boyz have appeared on programs with Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, The Williams Brothers, Lee Williams, The Canton Spirituals, Rance Allen, Yolanda Adams and others.  They have also performed on Tom Joyner’s One Love Cruise and on Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) Bobby Jones Gospel” show.  Visit www.mrkerrydouglas.com for more information.
