That’s right, bullying in the workplace is just as common as it is in our schools. Do you know how to recognize a bullying in your workplace? As parents we tell our children to tell someone if another child is bullying or harassing them. The funny thing is many adults that are bullied in their workplace find themselves reacting much differently than the advice they give their kids. If you are being bullied by a co-worker or your supervisor or if you have witnessed someone being bullied here are some steps you can take to make it stop….TELL SOMEBODY…. It seems simple but for the victims… it may not be that easy. There are anti-bullying  laws you show know about…..

However, here is what you can do about bullying

Employees:

Regain control by:

 Recognizing that you are being bullied

 Realizing that you are NOT the source of the problem 

Recognizing that bullying is about control, and therefore has nothing to do with your performance.

Take action by:

Keeping a diary detailing the nature of the bullying (e.g., dates, times, places, what was said or done and who was present)

Obtaining copies of harassing / bullying paper trails; hold onto copies of documents that contradict the bully’s accusations against you (e.g., time sheets, audit reports, etc.).
