Although most won’t admit there are Narcissistic men in the workplace, they do exist. This type of behavior can create a hostile environment of aggressive, manipulative behavior that can lead to high turnover and low productivity. Here are a few behaviors of the narcissistic man in the workplace, let’s see if they remind you of anyone you work with:

  • typically a high-achieving employee
  •  pits coworkers against one another
  •  sabotages others’ work and takes credit for others’ achievements.

Do any of these sound like familiar behaviors of someone in your workplace?

Set boundaries. Narcissistic men feel they deserve special treatment and often lack respect for the personal and professional boundaries of others. This could manifest itself in actions such as taking over control of a meeting or presentation, constantly over-talking or interrupting colleagues, patronizing others or becoming angry when they are unable to control a situation. Stop this behavior at the onset by reclaiming or redirecting control of the situation in a calm and professional manner.
