In an exclusive interview, Marc Morial, President, National Urban League spoke about a wide range of topics on Afternoons with Amos.  Morial discussed the absolute lack of discussion of issues of cities and Urban America during the Presidential Debates. Morial called for a “complete overhaul” of the Presidential debate system.  Morial urged listeners and the community to “pay close attention” to what candidates are saying in order to decide how to vote. Morial talked about the growing economic divide occurring in Black communities across the country. Including in Indianapolis where there’s a significant gap between the incomes of Blacks in Indy’s poorest neighborhoods versus neighborhoods in the townships and suburbs. Morial also discussed education since he was in Indianapolis to address a convention of school board members and administrators from the country’s largest school districts. Morial said that more importance should be placed on training and developing school leaders such as principals.  Morial also blasted the proposal by Gov. Mitt Romney to turn Title I funds into state block grants or voucher money.
