
Dr. Charles Venable, the new CEO of the Indianapolis Museum of Art visited Afternoons with Amos to introduce himself to the Indianapolis community. In his first live interview Dr. Venable, who came to Indianapolis from the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, talked about the rich heritage of the IMA and his desire to see the museum to continue to grow. Dr. Venable who’s been in the art museum world for over two decades said that he wants to be able to showcase local artists at the the museum. Venable also indicated that the museum’s revered African Gallery has been newly restored and updated. He also discussed with Amos and listeners that the museum has art works by African-American artists in the galleries. Venable talked about the museum mission to educate, especially young people, and how technology could be used to help do that.
