In numbers, Democrats in the Indiana House of Representatives will be outnumbered two-to-one. Yet new House Democratic Leader State Rep. Scott Pelath says the Republican House super majority won’t prevent Democrats from standing up for what they believe in.  Appearing on Afternoons with Amos, in his first live Indianapolis interview, Rep. Pelath told Amos and listeners that Democrats would be talking and offering solutions on putting more Hoosiers back to work.  On education, Pelath said Democrats in the legislature would be standing with and standing up for Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz.  Pelath was critical of Republican attempts to diminish public eduction, which Pelath strongly defended.  A native of Michigan City, Indiana, an IU graduate and former Lieutenant in the Army Reserves, Pelath also said Democrats would be on guard for Republican attempts to punish Lake County and Marion County with punitive legislation.  Especially in Indianapolis that could increase the executive powers of the mayor. Pelath also supported mass transit, but said that any mass transit plan for the Indianapolis area had to be fair and allow fair representation of the entire community.  Click the Link Below to Hear/Download Amos’ Interview with House Leader Rep.
