A private investigator claims to have found evidence that music superstar Whitney Houston was murdered over an unpaid drug debt of more than $1.5 million, the gossip site PerezHilton.com reported Thursday.

“I have evidence that points to Whitney being a victim of high powered drug dealers who sent thugs to collect a huge debt she owed for drugs,” Paul Huebl said.

“Whitney’s body shows classic defense wounds that would have occurred while she was battling for her life,” the investigator said.

Huebl said his conclusions were based on tips from drug-world informants, an analysis of the coroner’s report and video from security cameras at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton Hotel, where Houston was found unconscious in February.

Two men seen on the videotape may have entered the singer’s room on the day of her death, Huebl said.

The official finding was that Houston, 48, accidentally drowned in a hotel bathtub as a result if the effects of heart disease and chronic cocaine use.
