There is  a major push going on to improve the quality of day care and preschool programs and facilities in Indianapolis and Indiana.  The Indiana legislature is considering a number of new laws to require improvements in quality day care. Including more experience and education for teachers, lower ratios of teachers to kids, improved health and safety standards.  Tightening standards for “daycare ministries”. Afternoons with Amos devoted a entire two hours to exploring this serious important topic for Indiana’s kids.  Daycare providers, the state agency that licenses daycare, businesses, pastors and the United Way all participated in a major discussion with Amos and listeners.  Joining Amos was Dr. Ted Maple, Director of Education for United Way of Central Indiana which is leading United Way’s 10-year commitment to quality early childhood education. Melanie Brizzi, Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), Director of the Bureau of Child Care.   Juaneka Ennis, Director, Charity Child Care (ministry), first and only child care ministry in Indiana to reach level 4 (highest quality) on the state’s Paths to Quality program. Shalonda Murray, Director, Auntie Mame’s Child Development Center, a level 4 Paths to Quality Center. Jennifer McQueen, Indiana Association of Child Care Resource and Referral.  Pastor Mike Bowling , Pastor at Englewood Christian Church whose Daystar Child Care is level 3 in Paths to Quality. Mike O’Connor, United Way board member and member of United Way’s Ready to Learn, Ready to Earn Committee.
