Winter Weather Advisory In Effect

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.  The National Weather Service says three to five-inches of snow could fall in Indianapolis.  Rain, sleet and freezing rain are possible before turning to all snow later today.

IMPD Chief Hite Promotes Two Officers

Two IMPD officers once demoted have new roles at the police department.  On Monday, Chief Rick Hite promoted Ron Hicks to Assistant Chief and John Conley to Southeast District Commander.  Both were demoted two-years ago for allegedly not responding appropriately during the David Bisard investigation, but several reports since then have dismissed the allegations.

Settlements with the two surviving victims of the crash involving IMPD officer David Bisard will be paid with an insurance fund.  An aide for Mayor Greg Ballard told “The Indianapolis Star,” that means Kurt Weekly and Mary Mills will get their money sooner.  The 2010 crash also killed Eric Wells.

Auto Financial Firm Expanding In Carmel 

An automotive financial firm is expanding in Carmel.  NextGear Capital provides inventory financing for more than 17-thousand dealers across the country.  The expansion is expected to create around 169 jobs by 2015.

Woman Caught on Video Abusing Child

A woman caught on store surveillance abusing her child is facing charges.  Police say Sarah Cartner was at the Walmart on the city’s south side when a store security officer saw her hit the three-year-old boy on his head several times.  She also reportedly slammed him down in the cart, pinched him and pulled his hair. 

State Police Warn Of Abandoned Vehicle Thefts 

Thieves are targeting abandoned vehicles left along the side of the Interstate.  Indiana State Police Sergeant Rich Myers says over the last four days, they have received three reports of tires and rims taken off of cars.  Police say if your vehicle breaks down on the Interstate, stay with it until it’s moved.

Saturday To Retire On Thursday

Jeff Saturday is retiring as an Indianapolis Colt this week.  He’ll re-sign with the team and make his retirement official on Thursday.  Saturday played 13 seasons with the Colts before signing with the Green Bay Packers for the 2012 season.

Indianapolis Museum Of Art Cutting Staff

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is laying off nearly two-dozen employees.  Museum officials announced Monday, 19 full time and two part time positions were eliminated, and eight open jobs won’t be filled. Officials say the staff reduction will allow the museum to focus on donated and earned income instead of endowment.

First Median U-Turn Opens In Fishers

The state’s first median u-turn is now open in Fishers.  Drivers wanting to go north on Allisonville Road from eastbound 96th Street must now turn right and use the median u-turn to head north.  When the final phase opens in May, no left-hand turns will be allowed at that intersection. 

Missing Ten-Year-Old Found Safe 

A missing ten-year-old boy is home safe.  Police say Larry Stone was last seen around 3:30 p.m. Monday leaving North Wayne Elementary School.  He was found last night walking through the Marsh Supermarket on West 38th Street.

Woman Facing Charges For Running Over Fiancé

A woman accused of driving drunk and running over her fiancé will be in court this morning.  Police say 50-year-old Donna Miner hit and killed Jeffrey Hawkins outside “That Place” bar early Friday morning.  She told police she thought Hawkins had gone back inside the bar, but he ran out behind her Jeep as she was backing up.
