Crews Working To Clear Roads

Drivers are being urged to give themselves extra time this morning to get to work.  Indianapolis and state plow crews have been out all night clearing roads, but some streets may be left untouched.  Indy Snow Force reminded people last night on Twitter that they only plow residential roads if more than six inches of snow accumulates.

 Weather Blamed For Deadly Accident

Weather is being blamed for an accident on I-70 that killed one person.  The Interstate was shut down Tuesday near the U.S. 231 exit while crews cleaned up debris.  Numerous slide-offs were also reported all over Marion and surrounding counties.

 Two Teens Arrested For Arson

 Two teenage boys are accused of arson.  Police say the 15 and 16-year-olds set fire to at least one vacant home on Tuesday and a garage on Monday.  Investigators say more arrests may be made later.

 County-Council Member Switches Parties

 A member of the Indianapolis City-County Council is switching sides.  Jose Evans says he has become frustrated with political games being played by the Democratic Party so he is now joining the Republican Party.  The switch reduces the Democratic majority on the council to 15-14.

 Marijuana Operation Found Near School

 A marijuana growing operation near the IndianaSchool for the Deaf is shut down.  Police say Johnathon Averitte was arrested Monday when 14 plants were found growing inside his house.  Officers originally went to the home on North Ralston Avenue after someone reported a fugitive living there.

 Three Hoosiers On Billionaires List

 Three Hoosiers are on Forbe’s annual list of billionaires.  Gayle Cook, the co-founder of medical device maker Cook Group, is Number 329 with a net worth of four-billion-dollars.  Mall developer Herbert Simon is Number 670 with two-point-two-billion, and Colts owner Jim Irsay is Number 974 with one-and-a-half-billion.

 Animal Abuser Charged

 A man accused of dog flipping is facing charges.  The Animal Care and Control office says Johnny Jones Jr. collected dogs through Craigslist and other websites then sold them.  Jones is also accused of keeping the animals in deplorable conditions and letting them loose if they didn’t sell.

 Police Looking For Bank Robber

 Police are looking for the man that robbed a downtown bank on Tuesday.  Investigators say he walked into the PNC on Kentucky Avenue around 3:20 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash.  The man is described as white and in his 30s, about six-feet-two-inches tall with a thin build.

 People In Geist Watching For Burglars

 People in the Geist-area are watching for suspicious activity following three burglaries this week.  Police say one of the victims caught a glimpse of the suspect who had kicked in his back door.  He drove away in a late model, rust color Mercury Marquis.
