In her first week on the job running Indiana’s second largest school district, Dr. Peggy Hinckley talked to the community on Afternoons with Amos about her goals and challenges in keeping IPS moving forward after the retirement of Dr. Eugene White. Dr. Hinckley, a veteran educator who ran the Warren Township Schools for eleven years, was chosen by the IPS School Board as Interim Superintendent. In the interview Dr. Hinckley talked about the challenges which include a looming $30/$40 million deficit and deciding on reducing the number of administrators in the IPS’ central office. Dr. Hinckley said she’ll recommend to the Board next week administrators and principals that should be retained for the next school year. She also plans to visit schools, first visiting those schools that haven’t been performing well. Hinckley also addressed the Riverside School 44 controversy, saying that the IPS Board had asked her to review the decision to move that school’s students out of their neighborhood. She also talked about other pressing issues impacting IPS. Click the Link To Hear Dr. Peggy Hinckley’s Interview with Amos. Runs 23 Minutes ©2013 WTLC/Radio One.
