Stop the Funeral Productions is set to release Stop the Funeral, the new play based upon the popular book by the same name. This inspirational play shines a spotlight upon the devastation that gun violence is having on America’s youth. The story features All-American high school football star Dante Jackson, who is pressured to support his father’s booming hip hop funeral home business equipped with rapping preachers and bling encrusted caskets. Dante is soon touched by the violence that is fueling their fortunes. He must decide to either abandon his father or abandon his values. Will he take a stance against the gun violence killing his friends or become the next victim?
Stop the Funeral was produced to create a sense of urgency to help transform the mindset of teens who are fixated on violence. It will leave adults questioning what responsibility they share in addressing the rising death toll that is destroying America’s urban youth. Stop the Funeral is designed to help motivate, cultivate and inspire youth to have a design in their destiny.
Stop the Funeral is written and directed by Fernandel Almonor. The Executive Producer is Bishop Donald Hilliard, Senior Pastor of Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. States Bishop Hilliard, “Although each generation faces its own set of challenges, it is and will always be the responsibilities of others to help our youth to become the leaders of tomorrow. Stop the Funeral is a story about taking a stance against insurmountable odds. It’s the kind of story whose goal is to inspire a people.”
