Indianapolis Ramps Up Security after Boston Attack
The events in Boston have triggered enhanced security at sporting events here in Indianapolis.
The Pacers played their last regular season game last night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse,
The outdoor trash cans that were removed and bomb-resistant cans were put in their place.
The trash can removal is just the beginning for safety upgrades, bomb-sniffing dogs at the Fieldhouse.
Plane Struck By Lightening at Indianapolis International Airport
A plane was struck by lightning and damaged by flying concrete in yesterday’s storm at Indianapolis Airport.
Lightning struck the tail of US Airways airbus, traveling through the plane and blowing out a chunk of concrete below.
No passengers were on the plane at the time, and no fire or injuries were reported.
Indiana Among Top 10 Hail Damage States
According to State Farm Insurance, Indiana is among the top 10 states for hail damage.
Damage caused by wind and hail made up more than $3.9 billion in insurance claims in 2012. The states with the most wind/hail losses include: Texas, Illinois, New York, and Ohio. Indiana ranked 7th.
Purdue Given All Clear after Bomb Scare
West Lafayette police gave the all-clear Wednesday after a container thought to be suspicious was determined not to be dangerous.
Police said officers were called to an area on the eastern edge of campus just after noon.
The object was determined to be PVC pipe with fliers inside.
Severe Storms Headed to Indiana
There is a moderate risk of severe storms in the western half of the state Today with the best chance of widespread severe storms this afternoon.
The line of thunderstorms is expected to bring the greatest threat widespread damaging winds.
After the line of storms passes, the severe weather threat will end and much cooler weather will settle into Indiana. Windy and Warm. HIGH: 82°
