Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin Give Godly Advice to Youth

DeVon Franklin and Meagan GoodMeagan Good, the Christian actress, and her husband, Hollywood producer and preacher DeVon Franklin recently advised young men and women at his brother’s web series, Let’s Pray! on Hope Channel.

Pastor David Franklin, the co-host for Let’s Pray! and the Assistant Pastor of the Berea Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baltimore, Md., recently questioned his Hollywood executive brother and wife about what they would tell young men and women concerning love, relationships and walking with God.

Good’s husband spoke about society teaching men not to share their emotions, but had a different piece of advice for those listening.

“What I say to young men is don’t let anybody tell you what a man is supposed to look like if it’s not connected to God. When you look at the word of God, God lays out visions of manhood,” Franklin said on Let’s Pray recently. “When you look at Moses, David, Jesus … all of these men were men that would go to the ends of the earth to fight for what they believed in. Moral men, men of integrity, men of great compassion.”

While some men brag about their exploits with women, Franklin advised young men to take a different approach.

“Do not define yourself by your sexual prowess,” the preacher said on his brother’s show.

Good, who married Franklin last summer, spoke to young women about the trials of growing up impacting relationships. While Good said that her parents’ divorce affected her, she spoke to women about why choosing relationships to fill voids in life was not the right decision.

“I think that there’s a lot of brokenness that happens during that age and there’s a lot of lies that you believe during that age and as you get older you start to buy into these relationships with guys that help you during the time work out some of your father issues,” Good said on Let’s Pray! “Whether you’re aware of it or not, really they’re just damaging. And the more that you give of yourself even emotionally, especially physically, the more damaged you become.”

The actress advised women against premarital sex, so that they could avoid the wrong relationships.

“You’re giving parts of your spirit and your soul away. I would encourage young women to know that in God’s eyes we are all made perfect and his eyes are the only eyes that matter. He’s going to take us where he wants us to go,” Good said. “And we are worthy, and we are beautiful and we are perfect. And we have everything that we need to have to be who he’s called us to be. I would encourage them to wait because nothing good ever goes from giving yourself away to somebody who’s not your husband.”
