Former Indiana House Speaker Charged with OWI

Former Indiana House Speaker Michael Phillips is facing charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after crashing his SUV into a pay booth in a Circle Center Mall parking garage in Indianapolis.

69-year-old Phillips, who left the House in 1994 was arrested early Wednesday morning.

Police said Phillips pulled his Cadillac SUV into the wrong side of a pay booth, first hitting a yellow pole and then crashing into the booth itself.

Phillips acknowledged that he had “a couple glasses of wine”, yet his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit. He said he didn’t think he was that high.

 

Missing Noblesville Man Found Safe

Police in Hamilton County have located a man who had been missing since early Sunday.

39 year old, Guy David Cox Jr.,  who is known to his friends as “Happy,”  was found late Wednesday afternoon in the Sheridan area.

He had been staying with coworkers since Sunday.

Since then, he hadn’t reached out to family, friends or coworkers.

 

Firefighters Fill Indy For Convention

More than 30,000 firefighters packed the Indiana Convention Center Wednesday for the opening ceremonies of the Fire Department Instructors Conference.

For the next five days, firefighters from around the world will gather for hands-on training in various courses from rescue operations to live fire tactics.

Event organizers said the purpose of the conference is to sharpen their skills and to bond with other in their profession.

This year’s convention is the largest is the conference’s 85-year history.

 

Suspicious Package Found at City Market, Not A Threat

IMPD says a suspicious package found at City Market Downtown was not a threat.  Police were called Wednesday afternoon and the area was locked down for about two-hours.  The package turned out to be a backpack that contained clothes.

 

Survey Says More Spouses are “Financially Cheating”
