Indianapolis The 45th Fittest City 

A new ranking is showing just how unfit the Circle City is.

Indy ranks 45th out of 50 on the list of fittest cities and is down two spots from last year.

They looked at the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the country and then looked at factors such as preventive health behaviors, chronic disease conditions, health care access and community resources.

The number one spot for the third-straight year was Minneapolis/St. Paul.

The top-rated Midwestern city on the list was Cincinnati which came in at number 13.

 

Indy Business Gets “Loaded” Mail From Dog

Police are trying to figure out who is mailing dog feces to a health insurance office near downtown.  Investigators say Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield received a complaint letter on March 13th and the “surprise” was included in the envelope.  A second letter received Tuesday complained about advertisements being mailed to the person’s dog.

 

ISTEP Testing Results Delayed

There’s more controversy surrounding the ISTEP test.  As Many Parents may have already gotten letters saying their child’s test results are available right now, CTB-McGraw Hill says because of the problems during the testing period, those results are being delayed, and likely won’t be available until July.  The Indiana Department of Education is looking for an independent evaluator to look at how valid the test is.

 

3 Indiana Spellers Advance in Scripps Spelling Bee

All 13 Indiana competitors in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. spelled their first words correctly yesterday, but only three made it to the semifinals.

The three Hoosiers that remained in the competition this morning are Mary Skirvin, of Bloomington, Margaret Peterson, of South Bend, and Joseph Kirkpatrick, of Anderson. Congrats and Good Luck to all of our spelling Hoosiers.

 

Tractor Trailer Carry Noodles Crashes on I-70

A tractor-trailer crashed and overturned into a ditch on Interstate 70 near Mount Comfort Road and the Greenfield exit. Police said the driver was not injured, but he was hospitalized for a blood draw.

The truck was carrying a load of dry noodles, but the meal was not lost. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.

 

Stores at Fashion Mall Get Ready To Open

The stores are getting ready to open at The Keystone and The Crossing Fashion Mall. Among a few of them opening on June 7th is “Lucy” a women’s athletic store. “Michael Kors” opens on June 13. The denim paradise “True Religion” opens on June 19, and the “Microsoft Store” opens June 29.
