Despite the rosy rhetoric from Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, the city’s finances are still shaky. So much so that the Mayor and Council Democrats are working to reduce budgets for city departments another 5% for the current year.  That includes finding 5% of tens of millions in additional savings from police, fire, paramedics and other parts of public safety.  Appearing on Afternoons with Amos to describe the fiscal cliff of the city/county’s public safety budget was Councilwoman Mary Moriarty-Adams, Chair of the Council’s Public Safety Committee.  Joining her was Louis Dezlan, former Indianapolis Fire Chief , now a special assistant to Sheriff John Layton and Sheriff’s Department Fiscal Analyst Julie Keen.  The three explained the issue for Amos and Afternoons with Amos listeners.  It’s an opportunity to hear what’s really happening with Public Safety resources and how they could affect police and fire protection where you live.  Click the Arrow to Hear the Full Interview.
