IMPD Chief Rick Hite Explains Police Strategy To Keep Your Neighborhoods Safer This Summer

Chief HiteNo matter what major city, big city crime increases, spikes during the summer months.  Knowing that and with fewer police officers than in recent years, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has a serious task.  IMPD Chief Rick Hite appeared Friday on Amos & Abdul, which airs Friday’s in the Afternoons with Amos time period.  Chief Hite talked about the effort the department and his officers are making this summer to keep Indianapolis safe.  The effort is three pronged, says Chief Hite, involving Prevention, Intervention and Suppression.  Chief Hite stressed that he wants his officers to interact with the community. To treat Indianapolis residents with respect.  While at the same time working with residents and neighborhoods to fight crime.  Chief Hite indicated that he welcomes volunteers to help the police and he plans to beef up IMPD cadre of reserve officers.  Chief Hite told Amos and Abdul that he regularly is out in the community and the streets with his officers.
