Many who tuned in to watch the kickoff episode of BET’s “Sunday Best” Season 6, hoping to experience some of the finest gospel singing voices of our time, came away feeling let down. The disappointment was not for lack of talent, but, according to complainers, compassion, humility and kindness were at an all-time low from the judges.

The no-holds-barred critiques, snarky remarks and sometimes, Simon Cowell-esque crudeness of the most talked about two—Donnie McClurkin and Kim Burrell—rubbed certain offended viewers the wrong way.

“Where is the love? How can they be so mean? They’re worse than judges on secular shows!” wrote EEW Magazine reader, Dana, who said someone needs to “address the ugliness” on the show.

She continued, “How can they be a witness for Christ and His love when they treat people with lack of dignity and respect? This has [to] stop!”
