1 Dead After Late Night Fire

A man was killed and two firefighters were injured in an apartment fire in Connersville late last night. The fire broke out about 11:15 p.m. just north of downtown Connersville. The fire began in one unit and heavily damaged 12 other apartments. The man who died was in his late 30s. His identity wasn’t immediately released.

One firefighter suffered smoke inhalation, and another was injured in a fall at the scene.

 

Crime Spree Teens To Appear In Court Next Month

Two teens accused of a deadly crime spree earlier this year are set to go on trial next month.  The “Indianapolis Star” reports 18-year-old Sirquain Burr and 15-year-old Gabriel Edwards will face several charges, including murder, attempted murder and robbery.  Prosecutors say Burr shot and killed John Yingling as he tried to rob him, and also shot a 64-year-old man walking his dog.

 

Hansbrough Leaving Pacers For Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have put together a contract with Indiana Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough. Hansbrough became an unrestricted free agent this month after the Pacers reached a three-year, $36 million deal with David West. Hansbrough, who played college basketball at North Carolina, was a first round draft pick in 2009.

The Pacers will announce all of their free agents signings today at 1pm News Conference.

 

Indy Police Chase Filmed By TV Show “Cops”

A short police ended in a crash chase early this morning. Indianapolis police tried to pull over a man on the city’s east side on a traffic violation, but they said he wouldn’t stop. After a pursuit that lasted a few minutes, the driver crashed into a fence near 31st Street and Sherman Drive. You’ll probably hear about this again, because A camera crew from The TV Show “Cops” was with the officers and got it all on video.

 

2 More Shot In Indianapolis Tuesday

Two more men were shot and injured on the city’s northeast side yesterday afternoon. Officials said the shooting happened in the 3900 block of North Emerson Avenue around 4:30 p.m. One victim was shot more than once and was found in the street.

A short time later, A second male suffering from a gunshot wound took himself to the hospital. Investigators are trying to find out if the two incidents are connected.

 

Indy Explosion Suspects Start Trial Wednesday

The father of a man who died in a home explosion wants his son’s property turned into a park.  John “Dion” Longworth and his wife, Jennifer, died in an explosion last November that police say their next door neighbor and two others planned for insurance money.  RTV6 reports Longworth’s father hopes the park can be built sometime after the trial next year. The three accused of creating that explosion head to court today. Monseratte Shirley, her boyfriend, Mark Leonard, and his brother, Bob Leonard will start their trial in front of a Marion County Court Judge, this afternoon at 1 pm.
