1-year-old Stuck and Killed By Car

A 1-year-old girl was fatally struck by a vehicle Sunday evening.

Investigators said the girl darted out in front of a van in the 3200 block of West Michigan Street.

Neighbors said the 1-year-old was very good at walking and had been playing just minutes before the accident.

1 Dead After Car Slams Into Semi on I-65

A man was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 65 in Pike Township.

First responders said the unidentified man’s car slid under the semi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound lanes of I-65 are shut down near mile marker 124 as crews work to clear the scene.

 

Church Identifies Members Killed In Deadly Bus Crash

Colonial Hills Baptist Church has identified the three victims who were killed in the deadly bus crash on 465 near 96th Street and Keystone Avenue this weekend.

They include… The senior pastor’s son Chad Phelps, his pregnant wife Courtney, their unborn child, and chaperone Tonya Weindorf, a mother of five were all killed when the bus overturned as it was coming off I-465.

In all Thirty-seven members of the Church were on the bus when it crashed. This morning, 3 of them are still in the hospital.

 

State To Review Outcome of Disrupted ISTEP Testing

Indiana’s State School Superintendent, Glenda Ritz is set to announce the results of the third-party review into the validity of this year’s spring ISTEP+ scores.

You’ll remember back in May, when Disruptions in online testing administered by CTB/McGraw-Hill affected nearly 80,000 students across Indiana. The review is expected to determine whether those ISTEP scores should still be counted. It’s a hot issue, as Scores are used to assess student performance and determine school rankings and teacher pay.
