City Leaders To Announce Plan To Solve Flooding Problems

City leaders want to make improvements to the aging storm sewer and drainage system, but it will cost taxpayers.  The 20-year plan could nearly double storm water fees for some homeowners, but would reduce or resolve flooding problems in about 380 spots across Marion County.  Public works officials will propose the project to the City-County Council on August 19th.

 

IU Accepting Largest Medical Class

IU Medical School is welcoming its largest freshman class ever.  Officials say 344 students were chosen out of three-thousand applicants.  More students are accepted every year because a 2006 study indicated there would be a shortage of doctors in Indiana by the year 2020.

 

Colts Lose Game 1 of Preseason

The Colts will try again this weekend to get their first win of the season.  They lost to the Buffalo Bills yesterday 44-to-20.  The Colts take on the New York Giants on August 18th at MetLife Stadium.

 

2 Shot, 1 Killed In Saturday Shooting

One man was killed and another injured in a shooting Saturday night.

Police were called to the 2100 block of East 34th Street just before 11 p.m., where 34 year old Leonard Germany, was found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.

37 year old Marcus Adams, was taken to IU Methodist Hospital in good condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Investigators said the shooting happened near the 2700 block of Keystone Avenue, where reports say a man had ran up to a black car and shot a subject inside.  The victims drove themselves to the location where they were later found by police.
