Metro and Lawrence Police Search for Armed Suspect

Metro Police are hot on the trail of another home-invader this morning.  This time the attempted robber forced his victims to drive him around on the city’s eastside in their car, which was warming up in the driveway. IMPD says the female victim, her five-year old son and her boyfriend were inside their apartment in the 1800 block of Wellington Avenue when an armed man entered their home Wednesday morning.  He forced the three into the car at gunpoint and forced the male victim to drive to an ATM.  While the car was stopped at a red light near I-465 and Pendleton Pike, the female victim leapt from the car at the site of a Lawrence Police officer to get help leaving the others in the car.  The suspect took off on foot and the victims were not injured.  The search is still on for the suspect, described as a black male, about 5’7″, wearing all black clothing and a ski mask. He’s considered armed and dangerous. Call 9-1-1 if you see him.

Police Look for Suspect with Open Warrant

Metro police are asking for your help to locate another suspect. Police have an active warrant for the arrest of Adrian Anthony for his alleged involvement in the East 79th Street Residential Robbery. He’s wanted for multiple felonies. If you’ve seen him, call Crime Stoppers at 317- 262-TIPS.

Seven-Year-Old Shot In The Elbow

A seven-year-old girl shot in the elbow is in serious, but stable condition at Riley Hospital for Children Wednesday. IMPD says the shooting happened Tuesday evening at an apartment complex near West 38th Street and North High School Road. According to investigators, the shooting doesn’t appear to be random.

Man Found Dead Had Medical Condition

The Marion County Coroner’s Office says the man found dead along I-465 died of a medical condition. His name hasn’t been released. The body was spotted Monday by someone walking on the exit ramp to Crawfordsville Road in the Speedway area.

Panhandling Ordinance Approved

A new panhandling ordinance is moving forward. On Tuesday, a City-County Council committee approved a proposal that bans passive solicitation within 50-feet of a marked crosswalk, ATM, a bank or check cashing business, parking meter and pay station, a public parking garage and more. The ordinance goes to the full council on December 9th.

Indiana Homeless Veterans Receive Blessing

The Lincoln Apartments are now ready for 75 homeless veterans to move in. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Tuesday for the Affordable Housing Program. The facility on Holmes Avenue is just a mile away from the VA Medical Center making access to care more convenient.

Midwest Twister Damage Has Steep Price Tag

Early estimates of damage done by the tornadoes that tore through the Midwest on Sunday are nearing a billion dollars. Rescue crews are still going through the wreckage in several hard-hit cities in Illinois where up to eight people died. The clean-up, here in Indiana continues, especially in hard-hit Kokomo. Former Senator Lugar Honored at White House Today

Former Indiana Senator Richard Lugar will join Oprah Winfrey and former President Bill Clinton as special honorees at the White House Wednesday. They are among several well-known names slated to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The honor is the highest civilian award in the U.S. and is presented to individuals who have made notable contributions to the security or national interests of the country, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

School Busses Rolling After Mid-Day Failure

School busses that were to pick up students from Emma Donnan Middle School, Manual and Howe High Schools failed inspection during the school day, leaving some students stranded into the evening. A paperwork snafu limited the number of busses available Tuesday morning causing a two-hour delay. But they still didn’t roll in the afternoon because the buses didn’t pass inspection by State Police. The busses were owned by A&S Transportation. Most have been re-inspected and have now passed.

Greenfield BBQ Restaurant Accused of Drug Trafficking

They’re firing it up in the burbs. The Smokin’ Hog restaurant is accused of serving more than tasty pork and ribs. Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies say packages of marijuana are passing through this Greenfield rib joint. Authorities are calling the investigation “Operation Bar-B-Que.” Seven people have been arrested for this illegal enterprise.

Alarming Number Of Newborn Addicts

Indiana health officials are seeing an alarming increase in the number of newborn drug addicts. Clinical Manager Deidre Kettery said the situation is due to expectant mothers using drugs. Medical and legal experts in the state want to see a law passed to provide closer monitoring of pregnant women.

Zimmerman Out On Bond

George Zimmerman is out of a Florida jail again after posting a nine-thousand-dollar bond. Trayvon Martin’s acquitted killer—was arrested again Monday, this time, on a charge of aggravated domestic battery after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend, smashed a glass table in the home they shared and threatened her with a shotgun. Zimmerman was ordered to keep away from his girlfriend, give up his weapons and wear an ankle monitor. Topping off his great day while in jail, his wife Shellie served him with divorce papers. Zimmerman will be back in court in January to be formally arraigned.

In Sports…Pacers Take On Knicks

No longer undefeated, the Indiana Pacers invade Madison Square Garden tonight to take on the Knicks. It’s the first meeting between the teams since last year’s playoff series, won by Indiana in six games.  The Pacers are 9-and-1. That one is a recent loss to the Chicago Bulls who sent the message that the Blue and Gold aren’t ‘unstoppa-BULL’. New York’s record sits at 3-and-7. Tip-off is set for 7:00 Eastern.
