Teenager Shot; Man Stabbed

IMPD has their hands full investigating the first two murders of 2014. We now know the name of the first victim. The first homicide happened just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning on the city’s southeast side. Police say 16-year-old Tyrell Alford of Indianapolis was fatally shot during an altercation on Graydon Street near Temple Avenue. The second homicide was reported on the city’s west side at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the 55oo block of West Bradbury Avenue, near the Indianapolis International Airport where a man was stabbed in the neck. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later died. It is believed the man was stabbed on the parking lot of the hotel. He was not a guest. Both investigations are ongoing and the stabbing victim’s name has not yet been released. Metro police ask the public to call 317-262-TIPS if anyone has information on either case.
