First Lady Michelle Obama Turns 50
The First Lady is turning 50 today, and the nation’s capital is buzzing with rumors about the famous faces expected to turn up at her party Saturday night. Speculation is particularly rampant about Beyonce and Jay Z making an appearance at the White House event. Reports of Beyonce performing for Mrs. Obama’s birthday party date back to last March, but the likelihood seems a bit greater now since Jay Z is already in the District for his “Magna Carter” tour stop at the Verizon Center. “The Chicago Tribune” reported last month that a save-the-date card told attendees to wear comfortable shoes and practice their dance moves.
Mrs. Obama hasn’t been quiet about her plans for the year ahead. She tells “People” magazine she’s feeling better than ever and is focused on “figuring out ways to have an impact” in her many roles. Reflecting on whether being first lady at 50 means she’s peaked, she jokes that it is “pretty high up.” The full story hits newsstands Friday. Happy Birthday Mrs. O!
