114854584A group of churches and individuals are planning to start up a new Federal Credit Union in Indianapolis.  The announcement of the new financial services venture was made on Afternoons with Amos by Rev. Fitzhugh Lyons, Pastor of Galilee Baptist Church.  Rev. Lyons was joined by long time Indianapolis businessman Joe Newman to announce the creation of the Community Hope Federal Credit Union.  The new financial institution would be a credit union which means it would be created by the deposits and support of members of the community.  Rev. Lyons and Newman told Amos and listeners that the new financial institution would be available not only to accept deposits and checking and savings accounts, but make loans.  Both men stressed the financing power of church congregations would help fuel Community Hope Federal Credit Union’s mission of serving the financial needs of the Indianapolis Black community.  Newman and Rev. Lyons hope that the Federal Government, which regulates Federal credit unions, would approve the venture in the next six months.  For more information about the new credit union you can call Rev. Lyons at 317-626-0927. Click the Arrow to Hear Amos’ Interview on the new Community Hope Federal Credit Union. Runs 33 Minutes ©2014 WTLC/Radio One.
