A veteran Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was injured early Friday morning in a single-car crash on Interstate 65 near the Keystone exit. Sergeant Anthony McLemore had to be cut out of his police car by emergency crews, after his cruiser struck the retention wall pinning the driver’s side door just before 3:00 a.m. EMS took Sergeant McLemore to IU Health-Methodist Hospital in “serious but stable condition,” according to IMPD.

This is the second auto crash with injury involving IMPD officers in the last day-and-a-half. Early Thursday morning another officer was rear-ended in his cruiser. The unnamed officer was also taken to the same hospital.  Justin Gunter was cited for driving while intoxicated when he slammed into the officer’s car.
