For the next several weeks, Afternoons with Amos is featuring Democratic and Republican candidates running in two Indianapolis area Congressional Districts. The 5th District and the 7th District. First up, candidates running in the Democratic primary in the 5th District.  The District includes all of Hamilton, Madison, Tipton and Grant Counties, plus the Eastern parts of Boone, Blackford and Howard Counties. Allen Davidson and Shawn Denney appeared on Afternoons with Amos to talk about why they’re running for Congress and the issues important to them.  Davidson, who has worked for State Government in the Departments of Transportation and Environmental Management and Denney who has been a union member and is currently a school teacher talked about their views on Health Care Reform, Social Security, education and reducing the Federal deficit. The two also talked about where to responsibly cut the Federal budget and how to bring more jobs to the district, which not only includes the affluent Indianapolis suburbs like Carmel, Zionsville and Fishers, but communities that have been hard hit by job loss in manufacturing jobs and the recession like Anderson, Kokomo and Marion.  Asked by listeners what they’d do to improve benefits and services to veterans, both candidates pledged they would do far more than provide lip service to veterans and fight to maintain and expand veteran benefits.  Click the Arrows to Hear Amos’ Interviews with 5th Congressional District Democratic Candidates Shawn Denney and Allen Davidson. A third candidate on the ballot, David Ford was invited to appear but never responded to the invitation. Interviews ©2014 WTLC/Radio One.
