John Futrell
John Futrell served his country in the Army for over 20 years, including a tour in Iraq during the initial “surge”. Futrell is retiring as an Army Captain and is now running for the Democratic nomination for Congress in the 4th Congressional District. That district serves a number of counties in west and northwest Indiana. The district includes the western suburbs of Indianapolis including Avon, Brownsburg, Plainfield and all of Hendricks County, plus Lebanon and parts of Boone County, plus Kokomo, Lafayette and West Lafayette, Greencastle and more. The district also includes the extreme western part of Pike Township between Eagle Creek Reservoir and the Hendricks County line. Furtrell, who is African-American, appeared on Afternoons with Amos to talk about why he’s running for Congress, which is to call attention to the plight of America’s veterans. Futrell feels strongly that our veterans aren’t receiving the services they expect and deserve after their service to our country. He’s running for Congress and to have the opportunity to face incumbent GOP Congressman Todd Rokita to bring attention to the plight of our veterans in terms of jobs, mental health services and more.
