Rule Change For Job Seekers With Criminal Backgrounds

A new rule designed to assist those with criminal backgrounds land jobs goes into effect Monday. The new rule is known as the “Ban the Box” rule. Because of “Ban the Box,” city and county contractors will no longer be able to ask about a person’s criminal background on a job application or during a first-round interview starting June 2. That box on the job application has to go.  The rule generally has a goal of reducing the number of people who come out of prison only to re-offend landing back behind bars because they cannot find employment. ### kimwellsmedia 060214 Twitter:@kwellscomm
