Metro police say the suspect who shot a gas station clerk in the head during a robbery on Wednesday night, shot three rounds at him unprovoked. One of those rounds was the one that landed, striking the clerk in the head and leaving him fighting for his life. The robbery took place at the Joe’s Junction Phillips 66 in the 5200 block of West Troy Avenue. Another employee and two customers were also in the store, but they weren’t hurt. After the suspect took the money, he skipped away from the front of the gas station then ran west-bound on Troy Avenue. The injured employee is currently listed in critical condition. Police have not released any of the victim’s names.

Police are looking for the suspect described as a young black male, late teens to early 20’s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feett tall, 180 lbs to 200 lbs, light-skinned, with earrings in both ears. The suspect was wearing a black and red Miami Heat ball cap, black bandana over his face, gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black and white sneakers.
