Monument Circle in the Heart of Downtown is where Indianapolis has come to Celebrate Major Occasions or just to hang out. Saturday, July 12, it was a special scene as hundreds came downtown as dusk for Indy United, a reaffirmation of support for police after the tragic death of IMPD officer Perry Renn. And a cry that the time had come to put an end to the rising tide of violence in the city.  Indy United was an effort of Indianapolis’ radio stations.  Hot 96.3; AM1310 The Light; Radio Now 100.9 and 106.7 WTLC joined with our Radio Broadcasting Colleagues from Emmis Communications, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Entercom, and Radio Latina to show that there truly are times when Indy can be United. YOUR LIFE MATTERS and Indianapolis Radio is proud to share with you the replay of the Indy United Event.  Speakers were: Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Congressman Andre Carson, Public Safety Director Troy Riggs and IMPD Chief Rick Hite spoke.  As did Josh Bliel, the dynamic motivation speaker with the Indianapolis Colts and Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles. Five prominent Indianapolis Clergy brought the Word of God and spiritual uplift to the event.  They were: Dr. David Hampton, Senior Pastor, Light of the World Church;  Rabbi Hal Schevitz, Congregation Beth El-Zedek; Dr. John Koppitch, Second Presbyterian Church; Imam Michael Saahir, Nur Allah Islamic Center and Rev. Anne Rosebrock, Senior Pastor, Meridian Street United Methodist Church. Our world famous Indianapolis Children’s Choir brought their unique talents in song to close out the moving and at times emotional event. Five of Indy’s leading and prominent radio personalities served as MC’s for Indy United: Abdul Akim-Shabazz, 93WIBC/Emmis Communications; Kevin Freeman 95.5 WFMS/Cumulus Radio; Chick McGee Q95/Clear Channel; Amos Brown AM1310 The Light/Radio One and Dave Smiley Z99.5/Entercom.  Click the Media Player to Hear the Indy United Program.
