Contemporary gospel singer Kierra Sheard is defending Preachers of L.A. – many churchgoers and church leaders expressed their dislike with the representative of preachers on the show.
Sheard is a reality star herself. She said the wealth of preachers on the show — like Clarence McClendon and Ron Gibson — isn’t a bad thing.
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being successful because the Bible talks about being wealthy. The Bible says money is the answer to all things and in this life, it is,” she said.
She added, “You have to get a job that will pay you so you can live comfortably. If you understand your purpose in life and understand who God is in your life, I don’t think money should affect your faith.”
Many critics didn’t like the flashy lifestyle of the preachers on the show. This includes flying all over the world to minister, arguments over honorarium payments for their services and earning way more than their congregants.
Nevertheless, Sheard said it’s not about the money, but what these preachers do with the money.
