Indy’s own Al The Bishop Hobbs went from labor to reward this week. Here’s a write up from the The Bell Report.

According to thebellereport.com

Vice Chairman at Large of The Gospel Music Workshop of America and

Chairman of the Gospel Announcers Guild, Al “The Bishop” Hobbs

“Called from Labor to Reward”

On Thursday July 31, 2014

TBR — Indianapolis, IN — While 2014 marked the 44th Annual Gospel Announcers Guild Convention, held this year in Atlanta, GA, from Sunday, July 27th – Wednesday, July 30th, it was hard to accept the news that Vice-Chairman at Large of The Gospel Music Workshop of America and the Chairman of the Gospel Announcers Guild, Al ‘The Bishop” Hobbs, transitioned to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2014 during the early afternoon of the day.

In the words of the Gospel Announcers Guild website…“Al “The Bishop” Hobbs is simply one of the most interesting personalities you’re likely to ever cross paths with in this industry.  Wearing as many hats as some specialty stores offer, Brother Hobbs has earned the title of ‘Bishop’ with an empire to accompany it.  He currently oversees the operation of two gospel record labels, serves as chairperson of the Gospel Announcer’s Guild and serves as Vice-Chairperson of the industry’s leading organization – the Gospel Music Workshop Of America, Inc. (GMWA).

Al is one of America’s leading broadcasting, record company and Gospel music marketing and sales executive. A professional artist, announcer, meeting planner, event coordinator and successful entrepreneur, he always made a difference with anything he was involved in.”

His presence was authoritative but with a gentle spirit. He was loved by many and respected by even more.

Bishop Hobbs was born June 4, 1943 in Decatur, Alabama.  He will truly be missed as he touched the lives of many with opportunity, guidance, and love.
