The day after Indianapolis and the World learned of the passing of Al “The Bishop” Hobbs, AM1310 The Light aired a special extended edition of Afternoons with Amos to get community reaction and tributes to Al Hobbs’ Transition. Anchored by Amos Brown, who worked with Hobbs for 18 years at WTLC (and Produced by WTLC’s Kim Wells), the outpouring of remembrances and reminiscences from those who worked with Hobbs, knew him well and those who just knew of him through radio and gospel music and the community was overwhelming. Joining Amos in studio or by phone were were: Dr. Bobby Jones, Award Winning Gospel Artist and Host, Bobby Jones Gospel on BET; Dr. Leonard Scott Founder/President and Sydney Scott, AR/Director, Tyscot Records; Bishop Tom Benjamin, Bishop Emeritus Light of the World Church; Rev. Jeffrey Johnson, Senior Pastor, Eastern Star Church; Congressman Andre Carson, Gospel Great Lamar Campbell who was discovered by Al Hobbs. Also joining in were former AM1310 The Light personalities Rev. Richard Hunter, Burnetta Sloss Tanner and Shirley Jackson. AM1310 The Light’s own Patrick Cole.
