College campuses and their surrounding communities across the U.S. have often-times been places where sexual assaults happen against co-eds. The Obama Administration is taking it’s next step to root out sexual violence by launching the “It’s On Us” campaign.

According to the White House, the campaign aims to engage college students and all members of campus communities across the country in preventing sexual assault by turning the tides in fundamental thinking to inspire everyone to see sexual assault as their responsibility to do something, big or small, to prevent it.  The campaign, launched on Friday, is in partnership with the Center for American Progress’ Generation Progress, along with student body leadership from nearly 200 colleges and universities across the country, collegiate sports organizations such as the NCAA (which is headquartered here in downtown Indianapolis), and private companies that have strong connections with students at colleges and universities across the country.

Whether it’s the dorm, on-or off-campus apartment, club, bar or elsewhere in the college environment, the administration and its partners are working on the safety of students–particularly women–who are more often the victims of these sexual attacks.
