IMPD Ofcr Hascall Shaffer deceased Sept'14

Thousands of mourners are expected to pay their final respects to active-duty Indianapolis Metro Police Department Officer Hascall Shaffer today beginning at 10 a.m. Officer Shaffer served the community here in Indianapolis for 18 years as a member of the force and died on September 22nd from an undisclosed illness. Shaffer’s funeral begins at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Apostolic, 6601 Grandview Drive. Several hundred vehicles are expected in a police-escorted procession after Shaffer’s home going service that will wind through the city ending at the Heroes of Public Safety section in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Traffic is expected to be impacted on several major city streets.

Here’s the procession route:

  • Southbound Grandview to Kessler Blvd,
  • East on Kessler Blvd to Keystone Ave,
  • South on Keystone to 30th St.,
  • East on 30th St. to David S. Moore Memorial Parkway,
  • North on David Moore Prkwy to drive on North side of North District Roll Call,
  • East on drive past North District to Dearborn St.,
  • South on Dearborn to 30th St.,
  • East on 30th St. to Sherman Dr.,
  • North on Sherman Dr. to 38th St.,
  • West on 38th St. to Capitol Ave.,
  • South on Capitol to 34th St.,
  • West on 34th to entrance of Crown Hill Cemetery in route to Heroes of Public Safety area.
