It’s a big sports night here in the city and beyond.
Downtown Indy will be packed for a double celebration Thursday night. A pre-game block party kicks off the Pacers official season this evening on Georgia Street celebrating both the Indianapolis Star’s new downtown headquarters and the Indiana Pacers’ season opener. The state’s largest daily paper has moved to new digs inside the old Nordstrom store at Circle Center Mall and they’re inviting the community to come hang out with them for an open house before tonight’s game. There will be plenty of live entertainment, autograph sessions, food and drinks during the block party which runs from 5-7 p.m. Then the Pacers take to the hardwoods of Bankers Life Fieldhouse to rumble for the rock, hosting the Philadelphia 76er’s at 7 p.m.
While we’re whooping it up in basketball country the way we do… maybe someone will tell us the score of the baseball game.
The World Series Championship is also tonight. The Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants will play for the title in Kansas City. The Royals crushed the Giants 10-0 in Game Six on Tuesday to even the best-of-seven set at three games apiece. First pitch is at 8:07 p.m. Eastern.
