A deadly double shooting is keeping Indianapolis Metro Police busy. Two people are dead after a shooting on Indy’s southwest side. It happened about 8 p.m Wednesday night in the I-70 Trailer Park. IMPD says they found a man and a woman inside of one of the trailers, and they were both dead. WRTV-6 reports police believe Eric Harden,35, shot and killed his girlfriend, identified as Tiffany Greer, 27, then shot and killed himself. Investigators say they also found a two-year-old girl there who wasn’t hurt. The toddler is Greer’s daughter.

Metro Police are also investigating money that fell from the sky in downtown Indy. The dollar bills were seen blowing off the rooftop of a building on North Meridian Street near Monument Circle Wednesday. On the roof, police found partial money wrappers that read “Federal Reserve Bank” that were dated December 29 and January 20. It’s unclear if the money is connected with a robbery that happened on January 20 at the Qdoba restaurant on the ground floor of that building, but again, police are looking into it.

Indiana’s Democratic Senator says he can’t vote for President Donald Trump’s pick for the nation’s schools chief. Senator Joe Donnely says he’ll be a “no vote” on Betsy DeVos for U.S. Education Secretary. He told this to reporters Wednesday. Democrats on Capitol Hill say they still have questions about DeVos. But she is most unpopular with Democratic lawmakers because of her support for school choice and her opposition to teachers’ unions.

Get ready to pay more at the pump. The gas tax here in Indiana looks to be going up—adding about ten-cents a gallon to your bill each time you pull up to the pump. But lawmakers say it’ll only go up a penny-per-year from there. Lawmakers at the statehouse introduced a plan on Wednesday to cap the growth of the gas tax. Originally the plan was to tie the gas tax to inflation. The new proposal would allow for only that aforementioned one-cent increase each year.

Flags will be at half staff at all schools in the City of Lawrence on this busy Thursday as the school district remembers a brave principal that gave her life to protect her students. History: One year ago today, a school bus jumped the curb at the end of the school day at Amy Beverland Elementary lunging towards the students and principal Susan Jordan blocked the way. She was hit by that bus and killed. Jordan lead Beverland school for 22 years, where WTHR-TV reports the school will have private observances today.

Indianapolis Public Schools is buzzing today, specifically in the Anderson Auditorium of Arsenal Technical High School. The school district’s top spellers are competing there in the IPS District Spelling Bee. Fifty-seven, fourth through eighth graders are in competition as a part of their journey to compete in the 2017 national spelling bee. The 57 students are representatives of each of the district’s schools who worked at home and in their classrooms to make it to today’s competition. One of the sponsors, Stewart Richardson, will provide the winning student the top prize of an iPad (which can be used for continued study) because next up will be the regional spelling bee at IUPUI before the nationals in May. Today’s event runs from 10 a.m. until Noon.

Egregious. Appalling. Outrageous…There’s news out of Chicago Thursday morning where six people were injured after being shot during a memorial, for a victim of gun violence on the city’s South Side. Two of the people shot were the homicide victim’s mother and a 12-year-old girl. Chicago police say the girl is in stable condition at a local children’s hospital. A community activist told NBC Chicago-television that “the opposition” to those at Wednesday night’s memorial came through an alley and opened fire on the mourners. All of the victims are hospitalized for bullet wounds.

Television icon and legendary actress Mary Tyler Moore has died at the age of 80. She passed away Wednesday at a Connecticut hospital. Best known for her roles in the 1960’s as Laura Petrie in “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and in the 1970’s as Mary Richards in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” An innovative entertainment executive as well, she battled diabetes—a disease she publicly advocated on behalf of treatment. President Donald Trump is insisting that Mexico will pay for his border wall. In his first one-on-one, sit down interview as president, Trump told ABC’s “World News Tonight” on Wednesday that Mexico will reimburse the U.S. for the cost of a wall to be built along the U.S.-Mexico border, and that construction on the wall will likely begin within months. The President took the first steps also on Wednesday toward building the wall by signing an executive order directing federal resources toward its construction.

Mexico’s president is adamant that his country will not pay for Trump’s border wall. Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto said Mexico does not believe in building walls. He also said all Mexican consulates in the Unites States will be sanctuaries for Mexican citizens–an acknowledgement that Peña Nieto is aware of another Trump move on Wednesday. President Trump also signed a second executive order which aims at stripping money from states and sanctuary cities that shelter illegal immigrants. Those cities include New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. UPDATE: As of mid-morning…President Peña Nieto canceled a planned summit meeting in Washington DC with Trump. This is likely a response to a tweet today in which Trump wrote that Mexico’s president should cancel the upcoming meeting if he is unwilling to talk about paying for the wall. Again, Peña Nieto has firmly rejected that Trump campaign promise.

President Trump will address a congressional Republican retreat today. The annual policy retreat, where he’ll huddle with his fellow party members is going on in Philadelphia. Hot topics include repealing Obamacare and coming up with its replacement. Republicans are also talking about reforming the federal tax code and slashing regulations on businesses. Sidenote… Politico first reported that former Colts legend, Broncos Quarterback and retired NFL player, Peyton Manning, is also set to address this GOP meeting, but they didn’t say on what.

It’s Pro Bowl week down in Orlando, and the Colts T.Y. Hilton is there to represent for the AFC squad. Colts punter Pat McAfee was also voted in, but won’t play in Sunday’s game due to injury. It’s the first time Orlando has hosted the Pro Bowl.

Iconic golfer Tiger Woods is returning to the PGA Tour today at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Woods had been sidelined by two back surgeries. He appeared in the Hero World Challenge in December, but hasn’t played on the PGA Tour since the Wyndham Championship in August of 2015. The 41-year-old will be paired with world number-one Jason Day and third-ranked Dustin Johnson. Woods enters the tournament ranked 663rd in the world. Woods still holds the record, however, for the most consecutive weeks ranked as number one golfer in the world (281) and for most total weeks (683), according to Golf Today.
