Here’s a hard truth: many of us claim to have faith in God when we don’t. Maybe we did, once upon

a time, before we found ourselves in debt. Before we got that illness. Before anything troubling

occurred in our lives. We read about God’s ability to work miracles, but we don’t believe that He’ll

work a miracle for us.

We read that through Him we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37), yet when the enemy

strikes, we live as though we’ve been defeated. If you’re letting the weight of the world bring you

down, here are 5 scriptures you need to read to help you strengthen and exercise your faith:

Matthew 8:26 (ESV)- “And he said to them, ‘Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?’ Then

he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” Like the disciples,

we often respond in fear when storms arise in our lives, and cry out for God to save us.

There is nothing wrong with presenting our troubles to God, but it is rather how we present

them that matters. The disciples came to Jesus declaring, “We’re going to drown!” Emphasis

on going to, as if there was no doubt in their mind that they would not make it. We must come

to God in great faith, saying, “Lord, the storm is raging all around me, but I know you are

greater than the storm. I thank you that you have already delivered me from what rose up to

drown me.”
