Passion and emotion was expressed on Afternoons with Amos as officials of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail explained their project and the proposed sculpture of a freed slave that would be part of the multi-million dollar project. Appearing were Brian Payne, Executive Director of the Central Indiana Community Foundation which oversees the Trail; Mindy Taylor Ross, Curator of Public Art for the project and local artist Jason Wright.

New York-based, African-American artist Fred Wilson is designing a sculpture for the Cultural Trail, titled E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One).  Wilson’s vision is to create a 3D image of the freed slave currently shown kneeling in a sculpture on the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument. Wilson’s sculpture would depict the freed slave in an “upright, empowered position as a 21st Century person of color, holding a flag representing the African Diaspora”. Hear the explanation of the Cultural Trail, Wilson’s project and the passionate comments from the community.  Click the links below for more information on the project or to comment on Amos’ Facebook Page or via e-mail.
