Kurt Warner didn’t prove to have the staying power of Jason Taylor, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice on Dancing with the Stars.

The retired ex-Arizona Cardinals QB was eliminated from the ABC reality show on Tuesday night.

“I was pleasantly surprised at how well we did,” Warner, who was paired with dancer Anna Trebunskaya, said, via ABC.

“I played football for so long that it became natural, it became something I was good at,” Warner said. “(Dancing With the Stars) was such a huge challenge. It was more difficult than I thought it would be.”

Warner, who was serenaded with a chant of “MVP” by the studio audience, just missed out on making the final four contestants. The remaining ones: singer Brandy, actress Jennifer Grey, actor Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin, the daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin.

Other NFL players have had more success on the show. Smith won his competition, while Rice, Taylor and Warren Sapp were runners-up.
