In 1990 Hasler was involved in the controversial shooting of Leonard Barnett, an unarmed robbery suspect who Hasler said was fleeing, but Barnett had a severely broken foot and was unarmed. Hasler’s promotion has raised deep anger and concern among many in the African-American community.

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that a man who was recently released from prison is being accused of stabbing one man to death and injuring seven others.

A 28-year-old man who was recently released from prison was charged Saturday night in what police described as a bloody melee that left one dead and seven others wounded at a high school reunion in Cherry Hill earlier the same day.
