UPDATE: The controversial statue reproduction of a “slave” from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument will NOT be placed on the Cultural Trail in front of the City County Building. The Trail and the Central Indiana Community Foundation, citing the ongoing community controversy announced the decision July 29th. The groups still are looking for an alternative location for the statue. Opponents of the plan appeared earlier this week on Afternoons with Amos to express their opposition to the plan and gauge community support.  The Indianapolis Cultural Trail has proposed placing a statue created by African-American artist Fred Wilson on the Trail at Delaware and Washington Streets. The statue which reproduces a slave statue currently on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument would express Black freedom.  But many in the Black community oppose the move.  Hear the discussion, see a rendering of the statue and judge for yourself.
