Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard is still refusing to meet with Indianapolis Black ministers concerned over issues of police brutality and police training, recruitment and promotion. Baptist Ministers Alliance President the Rev. Dr. Stephen Clay said on Afternoons with Amos (Tuesday, July 20th) that a scheduled meeting with the Mayor had been postponed because the Mayor was busy with other matters. With no new date scheduled. The Rev. Dr. Clay also said the Mayor was still insisting on deciding which ministers should represent the Black community in the meeting, instead of the 120-year-old Baptist Ministers Alliance making that decision. Hear the Rev. Dr. Clay’s interview above.

    Greetings From Iowa!

I feel that because of the “timing aspects” that the ministers are in a horrible position to make ANY request of the mayor with regard to the police department! I was in Indianapolis this past weekend and was especially impressed at the level of professionalism that the police showed with regard to the IBE performance of our young people. As a former resident of Indianapolis, I was ashamed and appalled at what transpired this past weekend, and do not feel that that the ministers sitting down to discuss police performance is appropriate. Maybe the ministers should spend this time working to minister to the many lost souls in Indianapolis.
