Will your family vacation be a cherished experience that everyone will fondly remember for years to come, or a headache that’s best forgotten? Will you spend all your savings in the name of a great getaway, only to end up disappointed and pinching every penny upon your return home? If you’re traveling with children, there’s a smart way to do it and a hassle-filled, expensive way to do it. Which way will you do it? With these simple tips for traveling with kids, you’ll find it easy to please everyone.

• Plan a night or two out on the town and enjoy more parent-friendly attractions; most popular vacation spots have child-care options, so investigate and budget for them.

• Seek out entertainment and activities the whole family will love; you don’t have to sacrifice your own fun just so the little ones can have a good time!

• Plan meals in advance so there’s never a moment when you’re tempted to dip into the closest restaurant (because the kids are crying for a food) and overspend. If you stay in a family vacation home, you can make most meals yourself!

• Instead of baby-proofing your hotel room, choose a kid-friendly vacation rental that’s meant to accommodate the youngest of the group.

• Don’t expect the sights-to-see to speak for themselves; give kids context and knowledge before sight-seeing! This way, everyone can fully enjoy the museum, nature tour, zoo, play, etc.

Many Eczema sufferers are unaware that sometimes good skin care regimes are all that stands between endless suffering and an improved quality of life.

Destinations for Outdoor Lovers

The simplest of changes and techniques can make all the difference, so I have put together a few tips to hopefully help you out. In the meantime, you can hear my personal story on how to completely get rid of this irritating skin disease whether you are an infant or adult age.

<<Hear my story here>>

First and foremost is to STOP USING THE STEROID CREAMS..whew..did I say that loud enough, they burn the skin and can cause skin cancer. Stop immediately

Fix Your Diet-
There’s a whole lot more to skincare than just fancy creams and lotions. Real skin care starts on the inside-if you give your body the tools it needs to fix the eczema damaged skin, you will have a definite advantage. Continuing to eat the wrong foods while trying to clear up your eczema is like trying to run your car without gasoline! It just can’t get going! Scientists have found that foods with high acidity are linked to increased Eczema symptoms. For some reason high acid content makes the skin more prone to irritation, which of course brings on the eczema. You can avoid this by obviously steering clear of acidy foods, which is easier than it sounds. A dietician should be able to steer you the right way though. Fear not though, there is a much simpler way to improve this too-kelp supplements. Kelp is very high in alkali, which will neutralize the acid it finds in your system, so you may find relief there.

Moisturize Regularly-
You need to get into a habit of moisturizing your skin at least twice a day, preferably after taking a bath or shower. This is great for your skin because the more moisture there is inside it, the suppler it will be, and obviously soft supple skin is far less likely to crack and itch than dry flaky skin. The reason you need to apply the moisturizer after bathing or showering is because this will help lock in the moisture from the bath. You should pat yourself almost dry with a very soft towel, and then apply the moisturizer to damp skin. It’s a little harder to rub in, but it’s worth it in the long run! We have the perfect solution and lotion to fight eczema and keep moisture in

Protect Yourself-
Be aware of all the things than can trigger your eczema, and do your best to avoid them. As a general rule, avoid wearing any kind of perfume or scent, as well as all scented soaps or toiletries. You will also probably find a little relief if you can get rid of all the perfumed detergents in your home. If you can wash your clothing in unscented natural detergents you will probably find that your clothing is suddenly not so itchy!

As I’ve tried to illustrate here, you don’t have to go to huge lengths to get some control in the battle against your eczema. In most cases all you need is common sense and some consistency. I hope these tips bring you some relief, but remember to be consistent! Hear my story and let me give you a free consultation on how to get it under control.

How much exposure to Osama Bin Laden’s death do we let our children see? The children who were just babies are now coming home and asking, “Who is Osama bin Laden?” “What was 9/11?” “Why did he need to die?” This raises several questions. How much should we protect our children from the nativities and realities they will face out in the world? Did schools have the responsibility of teaching current events or to discuss bin Laden? And how can Christian parents explain why the man had to die, when the Bible appears to condemn murder and tells us to love our enemies?

Learning about horrific world events: School, home or church responsibility? After Bin Laden’s death, The Associated Press syndicated a story about how schools across the country were taking time to explain September 11-related topics to the youngest students who would have no recollection. What about slightly older students? Parents with children in public school may or may not know that in the late 1990s, “Outcome Based Education” and “Goals 2000” were established by the U.S. Department of Education as a part of national curriculum. Within the 50 states, various aspects of these guidelines are being employed.

Two main aspects of the program are “feeling based” learning and what’s become known as “social conditioning” in the classroom. Sometimes, it even takes precedent over subject-based learning. Simply put, its premise is that children will be better citizens if they learn how to navigate and react in a global society. But ironically, this very thing can prevent them from learning enough about terrorist attacks.

President Obama Reminds Us That We Are One Family

Valuing diversity and being non-judgmental is now a huge part of classroom curriculum. It is sprinkled throughout lessons on other topics, along with the “everyone gets a trophy” theory and the reluctance of schools to give students failing grades on the grounds that it can wound students’ egos. U.S. students have fallen behind those in other countries in major subjects, partly due to classroom time spent on aspects of political correctness; and partly due to federal testing guidelines that force teachers to drill memorization instead of knowledge, so that schools can look good after tests like the FCATs.

Subjects not getting enough attention include math, history, science and American civics, the latter tying into why students may not know much about what happened on 9/11. I am always stunned into silence by my student’s lack of basic education in school. When speaking to high school and college students as to how uninformed they are about world events, and their lack of critical thinking on them. They’re quite informed about cultural events (movies, cell phones, etc.) but not when it comes to important world events.

When Is The Right Time To Introduce Technology To Your Kids?

I grew up in a family where the news was watched and discussed. I don’t believe this is common anymore. Americans have become increasingly absorbed in their own lives and don’t see the importance of paying attention and developing a Christian worldview on the news. The government educational system – the politically correct, non-objective way of teaching – either ignores ‘potentially offensive’ subjects like this or raises more questions than answers by making sure students see the validity of the ‘other side’s perspective.”

Here are some fast facts:

In September 2010, the National Center for Education Statistics put out their 2006-2007 results. Out of 36 countries, U.S. students were behind 12 countries, including some we consider third-world or tyrannically governed.

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute did a two-year study in 2006 and 2007, “Americans Fail a Basic Test on Their History and Institutions.” ISI interviewed approximately 14,000 students at a variety of U.S schools with 60 questions on American heritage. The average individual score both years was 51.7 to 54.2 percent correct answers.

If these tests were done prior to the practice of not giving anyone a failing grade, these students would have received an “F” in school and would not have passed a basic American history course. In those days, a grade of 60-65 was considered barely passing (“D”).

With schools failing to educate students on history and how world events can impact them, Christian parents and church leaders may want to take on the responsibility to teach their children, especially when such events as the killing of bin Laden raise moral and theological questions.

Was bin Laden’s death murder? Was it wrong?

One of the Ten Commandments listed in Exodus 20 is “thou shalt not murder.” In the Hebrew language, “murder” has a different translation than “kill.” Murder means to spill innocent blood. Christian parents may want to teach this difference to children and teens, while also discussing the need to love all people, show understanding, display the fruit of the Spirit as stated in Galatians 5:22, and learn that vengeance is the Lord’s. We have a fine line to walk.

What do you think?

If your child seems increasingly irritable, is suddenly wetting the bed or problems are developing at school, you might want to look into how they are spending the night.

10-year-old Anthony Stone knows about sleeping troubles.

“I toss and turn all night and can’t hardly even sleep.” Anthony says he is tired when he gets up and his mom can tell.

“Getting him up in the morning, it’s very hard,” Evelyn Stone said.

It isn’t just at home that Anthony is having problems, he notices it at school. “When I go to school it’s hard to do some of my work because I’m tired.”

He also has headaches. So, the Stone’s doctor ordered a sleep study.

They put electrodes on Anthony’s head and other key points. Anthony then spent the night in a hotel-like room with specialized lighting where the workers at the Saint Francis Sleep Disorders clinic recorded what happened while he slept.

They found, a night of fragmented sleep because Anthony would briefly wake to breathe.

“They are significant as you can see he’s had three or four in a row here in the past few minutes, ” said Dr. Meredith Cousin, JWM Neurology. ” This is a clear respiratory event.”

The likely cause is an enlarged tonsil.

“Ultimately if the tonsils are removed, and the adenoids as well, their headaches will improve and their sleep will improve,” said Dr Keith Ridel, Pediatric Neurologist.

The diagnosis surprised Anthony’s mom.

“I was totally shocked I never thought of that honestly. I mean it never even dawned on me that it could be his tonsils,” Evelyn Stone said.

Anthony is set for surgery and is working to limit stimulants in the bedroom. He hopes it all pays off in personality and school performance.

“I won’t be that much grumpy” Anthony said. “It will actually affect my grades really good because I will probably get more good grades than I am now.”

A recent study of 510 children at Northwestern University Medical Center found that less sleep at night means more behavior problems during the day.

To help make sure your child is getting a good night’s sleep, start with the clock. If you have to get up at 6:30am, to get the minimum recommended sleep of 10 hours a night, elementary school children should be going to bed at 8:30PM. Pre-schoolers by 7:30PM.

Also the routine and the music should be the same every night. Get rid of any stimulants like the television and lights, the room needs to be dark and cool.

Other factors that don’t help are excess weight on kids or if someone in the house is a smoker.

Philadelphia police detectives did not realize they would uncover such an ugly side of their drug dealers during an investigation of drug activity in their city this week. The raid they conducted on a home not only resulted in the seizure of large amounts of marijuana and cash, but led to the shocking discovery of children who moved the drugs for the adults.

According to local NBC affiliate channel 10 in Philly, five people were taken into custody for possession of narcotics, including the parents of nine and ten-year old boys who were allegedly involved as carriers. The police seized seven pounds of marijuana from the children’s backpacks as their mother was attempting to send them out the door. The elaborate drug bust started with a routine traffic stop because two of the culprits, Rodney Saunders, 39, and Christopher Lewis, 29, were riding without their headlights on. But once authorities saw drug paraphrenalia the whole drug ring was unraveled.

The children have been taken by the Department of Human Services and Rodney Saunders, Christopher Lewis, Senya Saunders, Neiya Rawlerson, 19, and Somer Pugh, 33, were all arrested. And police confiscated 9,080 grams of marijuana with a street value of $90,800 as well as $10,476 in cash.

Author X’ernona Woods of children’s book “Save That Penny For A Sunny Day”, is taking the Windy city of Chicago by storm!

The time is “now”, to invest in educating youth about prosperity. 74% of our youth are concern about the economy, and 500,000 of the youth within the state of Illinois are living below poverty level and throughout the nation. Since financial literacy is not added within a vast majority of elementary schools curriculum let us deliver financial literacy to the door steps of the schools.

We must break the poverty stricken mentality and embrace prosperity consciousness by connecting 200 banks to invest 200 “Save That Penny For A Sunny Day” books and workbooks, to 200 schools a book that educates youth about entrepreneurship, finances, and budgeting and inspire and encourage prosperity per school.

We might have missed the Olympic bid but we can seize the opportunity and this sense of urgency to pass the batton of prosperity consciousness then surely we can redirect our youth from self destruction behavior to self worth action.

The goal is to have the “Save That Penny For A Sunny Day” book and workbooks delivered during African American History month to fulfill yet another dream to educate and inspire a nation of youth to lead a life of prosperity and service to all communities abroad . (Read More)

‘Tis the season of giving, but do we always think about our gifts before we give them? There are certain gifts that should be left at the store. Giving children everything they want without any thought can lead to a lot of trouble. Here is a list of four things you can save money on NOT getting. This list only applies to children ages 1-16, if you have a child in college; I think you’re safe to buy whatever is on your list.

1. Cell Phones
With all these news stories about sexting, bullying via text or even just the general distraction that cell phones seem to create in today’s youth, why even buy one? I know, I know, some parents will say it’s a great way to keep track of your children and make sure they’re safe. This makes me wonder, where kids less safe in the 80’s and early 90’s before this cell phone boom occurred? Just because all their classmates have one, doesn’t mean your child needs one too. This cell phone craziness needs to stop with our youth. I am only in my mid-twenties; I don’t remember anything called sexting when I was in high school. Also, do you notice when you give your child a cell phone, it leads to them wanting more independence at a quicker rate. Cell phones should be left for the adults who need them. If you must give them one, why with all these features they don’t need? Does a junior high school kid really need a Blackberry?

5 Tips To Making Your Holiday Shopping Stress Free!

2.Game Consoles and Games That Aren’t Child Friendly
Seriously people, stop raising future couch potatoes. There is nothing wrong with having one game console for your children to enjoy. I personally prefer the Wii console because it has more family friendly games and it can be physical, which will keep your children active. These violent and over the top games are not the right choices for your children. When I see two young kids shooting at each other in a pizza store because they own a first person shooter game, we might be taking it a bit too far! If your child can’t spell half the games they own, why get it for them? Also, how are we bringing up our children with all this violence? It’s not enough that they have to see it in school or around street corners, but now we are bringing it into our homes. This is one toy that your children can live without.

3.Clothes That are In Style
A lot of us love to buy clothes for our children on Christmas. The ugly sweater that grandma used to give you, has now turned into a pair of sneakers that she spent her whole SSI check on. This goes for both boys and girls. Just because their friends have it, you know they’re going to want it. In what terms, do you say yes to this request? It all depends on what it is! If they want a pair of skinny jeans, basketball sneakers or even those space shoes made of sheep skin you can’t afford; I would have to say no. It is your job as a parent to teach your children that they don’t have to keep up with their friend’s style choices. Why does someone who is going to continue to grow need something on their body that cost more than 100 dollars? If they don’t need it, leave it on the rack.

10 Gift Ideas For Him!

4. A Television
Can someone please tell me why a child needs their own television? What’s wrong with the TV in the living room? This is definitely a bad gift. First off, you can’t control what your child is watching if you’re in one room and they’re in the other. Second, why do we keep giving our children things to separate them from us? If television time is necessary, it should be done in a place where everyone hangs out. Not in their room.

I know most of you are thinking, so what can I buy for my children? Try to put more thought into their gifts before you buy them. There are other fun things out there to purchase that doesn’t have the negative effects I listed above. Yes, Christmas is only once a year, but we should think about our purchases and the consequences they may create later on. Don’t turn this joyous holiday into a purchasing circus.
